I have a web site that allows a user to view tiff image files. The files live on a production server that is not the web server. My web page is PHP and it calls a batch file which in turn runs an executable that copies the file from the production server to the web server and converts the tiff image file to a PDF file. The batch file runs fine and the executable runs but the image files cannot be retrieved from the production server. I end up with an empty PDF file. I need help resolving why I cannot access the production server. I am sure it must be a permissions problem. I am new to APACHE and any help would be appreciated. My web server and the production server are part of the same domain. People who access the web site have to sign in to use the site but the user name and password are not for windows authentication but just authenicated against MYSQL users. I am sure this is a simple fix but I am stumped. My APACHE configuration is pretty much out of the box. I know that if the images reside on the web server I can serve them with no problem but i have thousands of images. Thanks in advance for any help in resolving my problem.
Is there any error listed in your logs? Make sure that the file is copied from the remote server to your server. An empty pdf file can be formed if there are problems in convering the file also. So, make sure your batch file can copy the image from your remote server. Check your firewall settings also.
There are no local firewalls running on either machine. There is no errors messages that I can find, might be expected because this is a batch file. I pass 2 parameters to the batch file- the path/name of the source file and the path/name of where to create the pdf file. i can run the batch file from a command prompt and pass it the parameters manually and it works as expected. When executed by the web page I have trapped the parameters to make sure they are correct and they are. i just can't seem to connect to the production server from APACHE. Is there some directive I need in APACHE to allow access to the production server and that folder? is it a permission problem? Thanks for taking time to respond to my post and any future help.
