i've been dealing with paypal payments for years now and have a good experience with it selling online services. that is why i know very well how easy is for an dishonest customer to use your services and after that call the credit card company and have his money back with no questions asked. well, it isn't a major problems as we sell relatively cheap services, but now i pan to expand in a very new field of online sales - selling package holidays. i really do not wish to get a charge back for 4000 euro with no ability to defend myself (which is basically the situation with paypal)! could somebody expert advice me on a new payment processing option that is - affordable and relatively cheap, lets say like paypal - gives me more protection that paypal against online fraud (fraud against me from customers)
u can try alertpay, plimus..they are good i think..but not 100% sure that they dont have chagebak or not..
I was wondering the same thing.. paypal always listens to the buyer. I've been ripped off several times this way.. I'm in Canada, anyone know of any good merchant processing systems?
Well, you will first off need to find a Merchant Account and Payment gateway provider which will accept your business and the high tickets you have. Most Acquiring Banks will require you to have 3Dsecure enabled to be allowed to process your credit card transactions. You will need to have some Anti Fraud tools in place like maxmind or similar that will help you fight any chargeback when they come. The most important thing you will need to face is, to have a Customer return Policy, a money back policy and to have your Terms clearly placed on your website. Many merchants think it is the problem of the bank or processor to if they get chargebacks that’s not true, as a merchant you will need to verify orders like you would do in a retail store. The problem with Internet business is that you are doing business in a CNP environment and that makes it a bit more difficult. However, call you customers, get a signed contract, invoice or anything with their signature on, and verify it with some ID. Once a chargeback is coming and you follow some of the things I mentioned above, you will have a good chance to fight it and avoid the los. However, you will still be subject to fraud and many Acquires will not take on your business due to the same.
You should search a payment processor company with few tools to combat the fraud. For example in HooPay.com you must get the account's verification if you want upload funds through credit card. And if you want send money to other people you will receive a SMS code in your registered and verified cell phone to insert before accept the transaction. If your customers try to screw you they will not have the oportunity to reject the payment because Visa, Amex and MasterCard know about that security process and will never reject it.
