How to 301 redirect URLs with special characters

    I want to redirect URLs that contain Special character, for example I want to redirect this URL to another one

    news/2008/09/04/another--in-wa£˜iristan--by-us/

    or

    news/2008/09/04/another--in-wa%C2%A3%CB%9Ciristan--by-us/

    I tried with this code but it do not work


    redirect 301 /xxxxxxx/ http://xxxxxxxxxxx

    Can one can help?
