How they do it ? take over domain before they drop

    Hi

i was noticing a new trend lately

All started with some announcements of "new PR X directory 5 years old"

Doing some research i found that that domain belonged to a company who produces chemicals (for example), listed in some business locations as manufacturers of whatever.

Suddenly a directory pop ups on the domain and the registrant is some obscure guy.

Usually this domains are registered at godaddy.

Curious or not , lately, godaddy has sent out emails about registrants updating their records.

Can be hijacked emails ? Or domains sold before expiry to new owners for cheap ?

    Anyone noticing this ?

I'm curious about some more details if anyone has :)

From what I understand Google doesnt reward names that are simply old, it's aged backlinks that count. They also know when there is a change of registration and may discount old links if the site suddenly changes to a new topic. On the other hand if there are aged backlinks and they are on topic for the new website an aged domain can definitely be helpful for SEO.

If you doubt. Why don't want to get in touch with the provider and ask about that?

That will be the best idea: ask the provider...
