ok i have a few domains that I want to transfer to godaddy.com

I stupidly registered a few domains with my host, but now I want to transfer them to godaddy.com

anyways they're all over 60 days old, but whenever I transfer them they fail.

i have the administrative email correct, i reply the email, plug in the info right, it's the actual transfer that doesn't work.

the domain is unlocked (it's been 36 hours so i'm guessing it's propogated) but it still gets rejected.

i contacted the host (bluehost.com) and they said that because i modified the account settings (i changed some contact info) that it's 'locked' and untransferable for another 60 days...this just feels like such BS to me, or is it not?

You do need to unlock the domain names to be able to transfer them. I don't know how to unlock domain names under blue host.

There are however a lot of dodgy hosting companies that will do everything in the world to stop you from transferring.

Actually one registrar 'godaddy' and also their alter ego's so to speak of wild west domains and blue razor do this. Any change in the whois data locks it for 60 more days. It is not an ICANN rule and seems to not be kosher but they do it. I personally am in the process of moving any domains I can away from godaddy.

What is the registrar the domain is currently at?

Ah, well if it is at godaddy they should be able to do a push into your account.

But yeah, godaddy does that so they are not fibbing.

I am transfering most to enom and a few to moniker.

(If you need an 8.95 enom account let me know, they charge you $29 if you just go to their site to sign up).

Actually, it is an ICAAN rule. Most registrars just don't seem to interpret it as strictly as GoDaddy does.
