im pretty sure even when they get hostings with these offshore hosts like leaseweb and hostfresh, that they will be able to track the money to like the owner's bank account and paypal right ? also not to mention the adbrite ads these sites run, wouldn't it be easy to catch the owners and have incriminating evidence against the owners of these warez sites, by tracking the money ?
it really depends on what country they are from. Some countries don't give a damn about copyright and there is simply nothing that can be done against them.
Many countries in Africa, a few countries in Asia, and i have seen Canada hosting warez to. Mostly hosting in in non-extradition countries and living there you are safe
Ever thought warez sites (ie: blogs, forums) aren't illegal? If you're someone who's read this reply thinking they are infact illegal, I'd like you to give an example of a police case involving one. (One that wasn't mislead, and horribly instigated, ie: TVLinks)
A lot of them are hosted in countries where simply linking to copyrighted material isn't illegal (Sweden).
In South America, all the video stores where you buy DVD's from are ALL burned disks. You cant buy a legit copy if you wanted to. Some places dont care.
If the act is committed outside the US, the US has no prosecution jurisdiction except under the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act (MEJA) (which only applies to Dept. of Def Civillians and Active Duty Military)
true, but isn't purchasing those hosts in those countires against the law? or is it the freedom of speech...
Easy As long as you don't host the warez (link to rapidshare or something), and your hosting is not in the USA It is totally legal and they cannot do anything. In the USA, the company can file a DCMA and shut down your website, but that's all....
United states are not the police of the world and there laws are not supreme over the world. So you just host your site in a different country.
Like they said... NONE of them are hosted in the US, that's for sure... Even if the owners are from the USA.
Wrong, it all depends on who uploaded it. If you live in the US anyways. Downloading the warez period is illegal. Hosting links to warez off site can also get you fucked if your host is in the US. Don't fool yourself into thinking it is safe.
Yes most hosting companies don't accept even the warez links. Once a member of one of my forum placed a link and the hosting company complained me to remove the warez links.
The secret on how sites like warez-bb.org are still up are because of 2 main factors: 1: They are hosted in other countries not in the US 2: They code all of their links basically redirecting to links such as rapidshare, megaupload, etc. Ever noticed why they're so strict on the coded links? yeah that is the reason why. As for p2p, it's completely different from warez. limewire and apps like these aren't taken down because it isnt the makers of limewire that are distributing files it is people sharing their files which is why its called peer 2 peer.
