How The Hell Do I Get Traffic To An Adult CONTENT Site & Ecommerce Store?!!!

I have a content site that just dropped in Google rankings and an ecommerce site selling sex toys. There's no nudity on the content site and very little nudity on the ecommerce site, but lot's of adult content.

Since these are both adult sites, I have no idea how to get more traffic to them, other than viral ebooks, crappy forum posts and SEO.

I can't submit to ezine articles because they won't link to me.
As far as I know social bookmarking sites aren't going to like my content either.

Please help me - what do I do for adult traffic????

As you already found out, there are a lot of close-minded prudes out there.

I have a long list of ideas, but my time is limited, here are some ideas you can try, if you haven't, already....

    1. Have Google place your ads in other sites. They know just where to put them.

    2. Print up stickers about the size of you palm, and stick them at the best places.

    3. Search engines are over rated. While you are tryignto optimize your site, thousands more are doing the same thing. Not everyone can fit on the first couple of pages. It's the luck of the draw.

Instead just advertise on all of them.

    4. Look at your competitors' sites. Go to http://www.trafficestimate.com/results.asp to see, roughly, how many hits they are getting.

It's not accurate, of course, but it still gives you a good idea. If they have quite a large number, investigate further. Such as, how many sites are linking to them?

    5. Write articles, and post cool stuf on your site, and then contact those who will carry them. Askmen is such a site that may carry them. Look around for such sites. Do a search for such keywords, like, "articles sex toys," ""sex stories," "adult toys reviews." So on and so on....

You can, of course, advertise with them.

Here's a good one you can put in your site. Talk about it, make a story out of it, and then submit...

    http://www.prontocondoms.co.za/

    Click on demo.

    6. Carry around chalk to write out your URL in the best places. In good taste. Of course.

    7. Videos in youtube and myspace.

    8. Advertise in magazines and newspapers. Many don't want to go to a brick and motar store. Online is more private. Advertise the most popular items, like The Rabbit.

Also advertise your content, like stories and articles. There should be more there than JUST toys.

    9. Get a bigger than usual stamp, and stamp your URL all over the place.

Cheaper than stickers, but very hard to remove. Don't make yourself a nuisance.

    10. Try to find marketing firms that can get your URL out there.

Many say it's a waste of time to pay for advertising. That's because they don't know how to do it. Sites that brings in millions of hits hire such firms. The trick is to find such a good one. I'd love to find out which advertising co. iVillage and Askmen uses.

I have many more ideas, but I just don't have the time. I guess I should make an e-book out of it and sell it. :)

    Good luck.

Thanks for the ideas! BTW - if you do ever write an ebook on adult traffic let me know and you've got a buyer!
