How the crap do you think up a name for your website.

    Domain name, etc.

I swear every darned name I've thought of is taken. This includes all versions I could think of with my name in it, my initials, etc. But then again I do have a common name. But I want to put me in there somewhere since it's a site about me and my work that'll hopefully get more work. XP

Even my roman numeral (I'm the 5th) and all variations I can think of... ALL TAKEN!!!

There's so many TLDs to choose from, I'm sure one must be available if .com or .net is taken. There's .ws, .name, .me, .biz, etc.

You can always try putting "my" or "the" or "design" in it.

    e.g MyDigitalPoint.com, DigitalPointDesign.com, TheDigitalPoint.com etc..

Personally, if the .com is taken then I think of something else. I've never bought anything other than .com and .com.au domains. I wouldn't touch .biz .net etc even if they were free.

use the concept of your site and say for eg 3d or gfx or vfx, and add what is the action for eg talk, chat, model, etc. this will work in most of the cases.

What site you using to check them with? Doesn't it give you suggestions for names that are not taken? That's where I have found most of my names.

Try a prefix or a suffix eg. title, age, qualification, location, etc.

Since when was trademarking so stupidly expensive? There's no way I can pay that right now or even by the time I put up my site.

What if I make a site and want to trademark later when I can afford it then somebody sees my site and trademarks it's ideas before I have the money to?
