    friends....
In my view ,for internet marketing twitter can be a beneficial tool.... bcoz
Twitter is the 3rd most popular referring site. However, with a bounce rate of approx 75% it seems the Twitterati just take a peek as they collect followers and move along to the next one......

    whats ur view ?????:)

Nowhere NEAR as successful as my Facebook IM campaigns, I'll tell you that. But nothing else.

I get a decent amount of hits from twitter, but a lot of bounces too. Not worth the trouble IMO.

    Nothing much !
I got just a little bit of traffic from it which was just equal to none.
Only genuine followers click on links and that too some times only.

Twitter is a great place to generate targeted traffic to your site. But most people are doing it wrong way.I don't think you are going to get sales out of it if you try to market your products there(Even if you are able to generate some hits).
Try to share free content and provide help and you'll see the positive results. It's all about building relationships.

Twitter is fleeting traffic. I have a few accounts that have generated sales on my Ebay and Amazon stores, but I haven't seen a trick out there that will compare to good old fashioned hard work, SEO, and good inbound links.

People on Twitter appreciate good content.
When I started on Twitter I would get a ton of traffic/hops but none of it was leading to conversions. I eventually found out tha If you manage to build your followers list because of your content and not because you are following a TON of people your results will be much more effective.
Provide quality and you will receive good results!

Twitter is full of promoters. There're more people trying to promote their business than the ones actually interested in their businesses. So if you have 10,000 followers, more than 5,000 of those will be just other people/companies trying to sell you something. Also, it does not bring much traffic at all. With 2,000 followers I barely get 5 visitors when I post a link to the article I wrote. I'm guessing out of those 2,000 people that follow me, 1,500 are just there to promote themselves.

This is where the flaw in Twitter promotion lies. I'm guessing (so correct me if I'm wrong), you used some type of Twitter exchange/automated follower program.

A more naturally grown follower list will result in a better response to your campaigns.

I currently sit at around 75-80 followers with 10-20 visiting my links when I post them on twitter. Those 10 to 20 visits, result in many more due to users retweeting.

These people followed me without me inviting them, but they're mostly people promoting themselves. I stopped following everyone that follows me a long time ago and I can see a little bit of an improvement but still no significant traffic.

Yeah I agree with Lotos1. Twitter seems to be spamming right now. But it depends on how you gonna handled it. Actually I started last week to join in twitter and I got 951 clicks this September 19. And probably it really helps a lil bit. I'm looking for more improvement. ;)

There are times when I get a significant amount of click throughs, and times that I don't...depending on which profile and what I have Tweeted, but overall...I don't think Twitter is a very effective marketing platform for small business..or at least it doesn't beat Facebook.

It's true, it seems these days that there are more marketers and spammers on Twitter than "real people". everyone has a pitch, product, or affiliate link. If they ban affiliate links, it would help out tremendously, and you would at least have links from actual business and site owners, not just anyone who signs up to a program that tells them to spam Twitter with them....That is what makes Twitter a true spam fest...everyone and their mother is posting affiliate links to "dating" site sign ups, "make money online" scams, and "how to get more Twitter followers" gimmicks.. and it's rampant.

How would they know which links are affiliate links when they use URL shorteners? The problem with all of the spam on Twitter is that regular people looking for some useful information get annoyed by these spammers and will not follow anyone they don't know to avoid getting spammed in the future. This is why most of our followers end up being other businesses or promoters.

I didn't say I thought it through..., but I do think that they could stop people from Tweeting the same message over and over, multiple times in a 24 hour period...although I just immediately block people like that, as well as people who send a sales pitch in their "Thanks for following " message.

Thousands of visitors each on multiple accounts, and no sales or conversions worth mentioning.

I got sucked into all those stories written by internet marketing bloggers about how this guy or that gal raised 20 grand in 3 days with a viral marketing ploy.

I tried that in various ways....no dice.
Even non-profit work hasn't produced squat for me.

Stopped reading the far-fetched success stories and went back to the real money- Justin.Tv.
Digg used to bring a ton of visitors and Adsense clicks- but spammers are eventually dealt with and all postings removed.
    Game over at that point.
