How strong is your Web Directory ? - Look Inside ! !

Hello guys,

I just finished coding a new SEO Tool made particularly for directory owners. I had spent over 15 days doing some research over backlink trends in many popular directories before making the final algorithm and then coding it.

The algorithm takes into account three important factors in a web directory.

* Backlinks according to Yahoo
* Backlinks according to MSN
* Alexa Rank

Analyses these three factors and finally concludes with a number between 1 - 100 which defines the Directory Strength of your web directory.

I dont guarentee that the tool will function properly or give you very authentic results as i am constantly thinking over improving the algorithm, but still as tested by many of my friends, the tool gave perfect results.

Approximations

I had spent a considerable amount of time experimenting and watching backlink trends of various directories like yahoo, dmoz, alive directory etc before defining the scale which powers the Directory Strength algorithm. Hence when you go for directories with index above 90 points, there may be irregular trends which has been done intentionally inorder to define a proper scale. I was considering to choose as the DMOZ and Yahoo directory as top ones to define the scale in the algorithm, but while doing so, all other directories even alive directory, aviva directry and others showed a index lower than 50 points, hence they were not choosen as the standards. The scale standard was choosen by carefully analysing the parameters in other big web directories.

I need more suggestions, comments and feedback and your support to improve this tool. The best thing you can do is to use it frequently and spread the word about it.

Interesting, But lot of links not equal to quality, low Alexa not equal to real quality traffic. So the tool it's good for what is worth.
Nevertheless great job.

 

backlinks from yahoo seems not right. According to your tool, one of my directories got only 6.

I tried it again. It seems it showed the correct backlinks. It was 8000 +.

I like the idea, but one of the main factors should also include google backlinks as well, also page rank should be included also since these are some of the main things that people look for, directories that can get google to show their backlinks should be rewarded for that as well.

 

It works on internet explorer, but Yahoo! backlinks not showing on firefox on any domain I point to. Nice job!

 

I had thought of that before, may be after some will try to count it as well. The main idea was to make a tool which could change quickly responding to the change in inbound links. By using PR and google backlinks, it would be difficult since they update very late.

Make sure, you are using only www.xxx.com and not http or backslashes. If still problem then let me know the domain

 

But that is what makes the google backlinks so powerful as well as the pr, when updates change all the time they are easy to manipulate, which is why I do not put to much weight on PS. It is alot harder to get google backlinks then it is to get yahoo backlinks and msn because those search enginges give credit to any link they find. Google only show links that are powerful regardeless of the pr.

Ok well your directory http://www.web1directory.com/ gets 26.7 which is higher...

so is that better or worse? The smaller the number the better your directory is? Or the larger the number the better your directory is?
