How much fluctuation you see in your rankings ?
Do they always keep going up over time ?

They can fluctuate on a daily or even hourly basis. Google is constantly tweaking its algorithm.

Do they always keep going up over time ?
Of course not. Someone has to go down in order for others to go up.

Some sites stay at the top spot for long for certain keywords, but there is constant change

I see ups and downs in my sites search results ranking. It happens all the time.

I guess we need lots of quality backlinks in order to have a stable position in search results.

I track 65 keywords. 41 of them went up or down in the past 24 hours. That is a regular, normal, daily occurrence. SERPs are always fluid, except for those KWs for which you've conclusively nailed down the top spot.

For me currently different situation occouring,
When i checked rankings for my targeted keywords on SERP's, in the morning it's on first page,
But when i am going to check in evening it went to 2nd page...
There is fluctation. And i think this is not normal, this is some bugs in google database...

Sometimes showing results, 155600 out of 0

What's this... Well Google people are better than us, may they resolve the problem.

There is always flux, but more established sites don't move as much.

Ranking is not constant. It changes every minute. And to stay in top you have to regular work on your website.

it's going to change and change and keep changing. most of the time, blogs rank quick and then disappear and then show up again. the trick is writing quality content and not relying on quick-fix crap ways to get to the top 10... cuz it doesn't last.

    High Ranking means good SEO..
Continuing good link building means good ranking..
if you want to be constant in high ranking, then don't stop doing SEO stuffs..
But don't forget what they call "Google Dance"

We can never tell how long our site will stay on it's ranking since there's always an update and changes always occur.. Yet there is a way to make your rankings as stable as possible... and it's by applying good and acceptable SEO methods

Google very often changes its algorithms, so rankings are not constant.

Yes, as the others say your rank and position is not constant. You need regular (if possible even everyday) update of your website content, good SEO, quality linkbuilding and a lot of patience
