I agree completely! In fact, keyword resarch needs to be done before you build your site for best results! Onpage seo optimization is a part of building your site. Backlinks should be build as soon as your site is up and running, but start slowly! I think before the designing & the development of a website you should think about the SEO. First research your keywords & set the domain name. Design your website SEO friendly (e.g table less, frame-less etc.). Keep the places for H1, H2 & H3 tags. Name your folders with the keywords. Make the URLs static (SEO friendly). After the completion of the designing & development then start the OnPage SEO.
yes ofcourse you should first research keywords because keywords decides whether you build a profitable site or not keywords tells you is there demand for your service or not search on google keyword tool.
