How soon after implementing a 301 redirect does PR propagate?

If I have a page which was a PR4 and I've had to redirect it via a 301 in my htaccess, to a new page (which currently shows no PR because it's new), how quickly does the PR propagate from the old page to the new? Will it happen soon after the googlebot next crawls my site, or does it happen only after the next major update? Thanks.

We have a client that we just found out has been masking 21 different domains. Some even have backlinks associated with them.

We just set-up 301 redirects for their site and I am curious how soon we will see the results of this change.

If this has the affect I think it will, We will finally get page one for Google. Interested to know other peoples thoughts on this.

I figured it would happen much sooner than that. I remember another (personal blog) site I was working with where I had to create a series of redirects because I moved some of the sub-blogs around while expanding the site. On that site, after the redirects were in place, the PRs propagated within a few days, so I thought PR would propagate soon after the googlebot crawls the site again.

Can someone with more first-hand experience chime in?
