Google is getting pretty nifty. It always was, but I like seeing how they develop and the light-year leaps they're making.

Google is so smart that it has become retarded. Their intelligence will be their downfall. Look at those search results. They are crap and many people have already started using Bing and Yahoo. Rarely anybody is saying anything good about Google lately. Even Google's crib, webmasterworld is turning against them.

Sure Google reads your email, and does it officially for a long time.
They scan the content to show the advertisements based on the keywords from the email.
Certainly they record these keywords 'for statistics', and make your consumer profile from it.
No problem then with tracking words like 'bomb', 'kill', 'president' or else.

Good sharing :) Green added. This is why I do love Gmail over Yahoo and Hotmail, even the privacy issue is still be my concern when using any Google products nowadays.

I don't think they are reading our emails per say, more so them scanning the email for certain keyword and matching those keywords with our actions.

The machines from Google are reading your email. Not people.

I am not afraid if they read my email.

Google will become a government. As will Facebook. As to Twitter...probably not. The Facebook Like will knock twitter to the status of Friendster.

That's nothing new. I think the first time i heard that HOTMAIL bots go through you mail to find the right ads for you was almost 10 years ago. And since it's not a real person it doesn't matter. It's the same as in this forum post :)

no way related to privacy guys!
It's just a script that gets pinged when we add "find attachments" only, where that scripts tries to find weather we attached or forgot. so I think it's really a good move by google. at least for them who really forgot the attachments while writing the mail. So I don't think google is responsible for the blame "google reading our mails"! guys it's just a script!

That feature has been in gmail for a few years now...or at least it has been for mine (or I attach too many things without remembering to actually "attach" them)? Or, maybe Google just had it out for me a lot sooner. =p

There can be 2 meaning of this Google stuff depending upon you

1- Google is giving more comfort and safety to people. Its very common when we some time forgot to attach a file and here Google is trying to assist us by this pop-up.
2- Like everyone here , Google breach your privacy.

They don't read your mails, its just a feature like spell check, because just like you forgot to attach the file, many people do forget to attach files every now and then, so i find it a really nice feature from gmail.
