How SiteMap affect my site?

i don't think sitemap really effects sites...

 

I'm still not sure how effective sitemaps really are, but it couldn't hurt, right?

 

have you tried to use gsitecrawler? it's a free and great product for making sitemap

 

Yes But I can't understand why we must use sitemaps.. We increase our traffic :S

 

We use sitemaps to get more pages on a search engine which leads to more traffic.

Hm.. That means that because of I have a big site, I must use SiteMaps?

Could you tell me an good program to use?

I don't want to download an page if that is don't have an changes..

 

I think other people here posted programs they use.

 

I will do the sitemap as it won't hurt, just need to spend some time.

But some question in my mind:
1. If my site is updatd, but I do not update my sitemap, will that delay SE to crawl my new pages?
2. If there are fee tools that can do the sitemap, why the B G just crawling our site automatically?........... isn't that make life easier? So, is that sitemap is already a old fashiion, which I mean in the old days it helps, but as time goes, as technology developed, SE can already doing the same function "by themselves"................... (that may explain why someone just dont' care the sitemap, or it really have no additional advantage.......???)

Search engines dont crawl your whole site in 1 day. They do it slowly so they dont put to much load on your server. So it is important to make a sitemap so if they crawl that one page they should have a Hub to the whole site.
