How should I promote my new social media site?

Hi all,

I just finished developing my new social site. It's kind of a mix of Twitter, DP, Digg and Wikipedia.
Could you give me some suggestions on promoting it?

We can promote our website while left our links on the following:
FACEBOOK
GOOGLE
ORKUT
CHATS
YAHOO CHATS
EMAIL MKTG
OR ANY SOCIAL NETWORK SITE.Which people access very frequently.

I agree, use social network sites, as they are full of people who might want to use your site. Get a Facebook group going. You could even pay for some Facebook advertising if you have the budget for it.

 

It would also be a very good idea if you could have some features, such as importing Facebook and email contacts, so they can request them as friends on your site.

 

If you have created a social media site then it should go viral through friends invite feature if it has one and through word of mouth. Many people are interested in joining social media websites. Of you can use it as your signature and be active in forums.

 

The answer is simple. Just use other social networks like facebook, twitter, maybe Google plus and digg to promote it. You can also use forum posting with signatures to promote your site.

You could have started it from here by giving the link, because i am curious to see your new social media site. Try paid advertising or other free methods like bookmarking, banner exchange, articles, etc.

As other members have mentioned here, the best way to promote your social media site is through other social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Plurk, etc. Does your social media site cater to a specific group of people (photographers, web designers, internet marketers, etc)? If so, find blogs and forums that belong in that niche and participate in them, with a link back to your social site.

You could also try press releases, since they are a little harder to get accepted than traditional article marketing, the search engines put a lot of weight on them
