How Should I Price My EBook on Design?

I started up a small logo-designing freelancing project and am coming away with the equivalent of a part-time minimum wage job (but with the work I put in, since I'm not naturally gifted, I'm working a full time job at minimum wage.)

After this term, I've been thinking about hiring some freelancers to do the work for me at a slightly lower rate. I'm considering just keeping roughly 10% of the income and being 99% hands-off... But that's another story.

I want to write an ebook on how to improve designs... both of websites as a whole and graphic ads. I can't decide whether I'll market it towards business owners who want designs made or graphic designers who want to make those or both. Do I offer it for a price, or give it for free and build a list? Bear in mind that I am not interested in graphic design for the long term, but I will have a stake in a graphic design business.

The report's table of contents would look something like this, and it will be roughly 50 pages:

    • Intro to design
    • Components of Design
      • Form
      • Subject
      • Content
      • Context
    • Elements of Design
      • Motion
      • Line
        • Gesture
        • Contour
      • Shape
        • Biomorphic
        • Abstract
      • Space
      • Texture
      • Value
    • Principles of Design
      • Balance
        • Symmetrical
        • Asymmetrical
        • Radial
        • Crystallographic
      • Rhythm
      • Scale
      • Unity
      • Focal Point
    • Gestalt - the whole is greater than the sum of its parts
      • Proximity
      • Similarity
      • Closure
      • Figure Ground
    • Control Your Visitors - How To Make Them Look Where You Want And When You Want (I can't think of a real name for this chapter just yet, but that's what it's about!)

I'm considering a number of options, so what would YOU do in my shoes? I could:
    - Give it for free to build a list
    - Sell it
    - Include a free 1 hour 1-on-1 session with me via Skype about a website's design or graphical ads design of buyer/subscriber's choice

    Try out different prices.
Start with 47$ for instance, then try 17$.
If the results are not optimal, use it for list building.
I would always start by seeing if it sells...you can always give it away for free ;)

I'd prefer selling it straight since you are not in this for the long run. Market price $27 to $47, I'm not too sure as it's up to you.

Give a preview trial. Like the first 10-20 pages for free.

You may want to rename it Orienting behavior, or something in this vibe instead of control your visitor which is a bit exaggerated.

It's not the final name of the chapter, but you are controlling your visitors eyes. :)

I appreciate all the suggestions so far!

    Always go for premium price.
Because out there is a lot of same stuff with the same price.
The only difference will be price.
Customer will perceive greater value because of the price.

My advice is to give a FREE review copy rather than selling because if your review copy's content is unique then surely they can be sold for high profits
