How should I market/promote my business?

    I am trying to find good and cheap ways to effectively market my business and bring in some sales...

    I run SIB Consulting, which is a website design firm in Illinois, USA.
    What are some good, cheap, effective marketing ways? I am familiar with all the normal SMM, SEO, SEM, ect... but I'm not good at SEO and don't really have the budget for SEM. And as for social media marketing, well again I just don't really know how...

    So, what are some good, out of the box, ways to promote a web design business?

    Are your web pages created effectively for SEO purposes? If they are not optimized for your primary keywords and phrases, you are missing the boat on traffic. You can outsource content fairly cheap, and get the materials you need to improve search engine rankings and traffic. Writing articles that are optimized for your keywords is a GREAT way to improve traffic and rankings.

    You may also want to comment on blogs that are related to your industry - this creates some powerful one way links!

    how about good old fashion marketing.. look up yellow page and see who do not have a website and see who can benefit from your service, and go from there... ?

    article marketing works nice for low budget marketing plans. also get listed on all local websites as much as you can.

    i run a web development business myself. nothing works better then word of mouth, referrals. make sure make business cards and spread around.

    There's always the old fashioned way of hitting the ground by visiting local businesses in your area that could benefit from your service. Sure it takes some time but its always free to talk to people.

    It may just be me on this but wouldn't a customer expect a web design firm to know how to SEO? IMO you should learn these skills quickly and then use them to market your design service.

    Hello! If you want a good and effectively result for your business..why try to hire some SEO experts for your business. It may be not cheap as what you want, but as good as what you are expected to. Good Luck! ;)

    Before promoting a site it should be SEO friendly site,means Your site should
    have quality and unique content.
    place targetted keyword in the title of the site.
    use meta tags.
    If your site meets all these conditions,then promote ur site in social networking sites like twitter,facebook,myspace................

    Well,I think you may have got some old customers.Please do not forget to add the cases you have done in your
    website so that other potential customers can make a comparison.This should never be overlooked.And since you
    plan to develop website design business,your website itself is much more important.It's your brand and your order
    to some extent.
