Hi Everyone, I am almost done writing a large info product, that took me the last nine months of almost full time writing to finish, and which I will soon be marketing via a wordpress blog platform. SEO and content on my website are large parts of my marketing strategy. I would like to think my designer is motivated to do the best and most thorough job possible for me on both the design and programming end. However, in my limited experience with contracting out work of any kind, if I don't direct the person on exactly what I want and how I want it down to the most specific details, I get usually much less than I was expecting. Therefore, I need some advice on what I should tell my programmer about what I need in terms of programming and plug-ins for a great wordpress site to market my product. I know there is specific stuff for audio/video and the like, but Im not quite there yet. Just in terms of SEO and the site loading optimally, and anything else that you might see as necessary for a site that you would build to market such a product. Thanks a lot for your consideration and input ahead of time.
we'll just create a list of the features you will need on the blog then ask your designer to look for plugins that will allow that. and then let him code the design ......
Umm..thanks for the unhelpful and off point sarcasm. Next time read the post. I stated that i primarily am worried about SEO and Page loading times. Also, I stated that any other possibilities that a person could think of if they were marketing an info product, or theme design considerations plugins or not, would be helpful. But not necessary to answer my question. Also, no further specific feature details are needed on my part to answer the question. Im looking for suggestions. Im asking because I dont know. If your such a pretentious know it all designer, why are you lurking forums and not busy designing? If anyone else could give it a try, it would be appreciated. Thanks again.
Hi there, I can't post live links because of my noob status, but if you google these you should find what you're after: "Wordpress All in One SEO Pack" and "Sitemap generator plugin" Good luck with your new site
You said you were worried about SEO. Well, the SEO plugin that whaldorf mentioned does address it. The Sitemap Generator, also addresses your SEO concerns. If you are going the WP route, that is about all you can do from a website design perspective. The titles of your posts/pages etc is another key area. This is driven by your content/product, keywords etc. If it took you 9 months to write the stuff, how long will it take your designer to read it? Did the qualifications of the designer you hired include SEO capabilities? There are many great designers out there that don't know squat about SEO. Are you prepared to tell your designer what keywords you want to target, what type of customer, etc? Something you might want to do is go out and find a WP theme or site that your like to have something you and your designer can start from. Also, in many cases, especially for info products, a WP blog is perfect for the blogging perspective, but you might want to consider having a regular non WP website that promotes your product. This is the perfect combo good luck, Zeek
