My forum is http://aholeintheinter.net and it has a computer/gaming/link sharing focus. My question is: where should I market it? It's be nice to market it on forums that don't allow link sharing on them, as it is an attractive feature I think. My site is based in the Netherlands so it's totally legal.
explain what you mean by "computer/gaming/link sharing focus". What does your site do? maybe some people here would be interested in checking it out.
I'm still in the development of the site overall but so far the forum has a large section for computer help (and sub forums for each operating system), a general chat section, a web development section, TV/movies and video games sections (for discussion), and I have a very large link sharing section where users can share links for any and all kinds of media. I also have a request section and my few dedicated users I have right now fill any and every request within hours. I haven't done any advertising and the users I have now are just carry overs from another forum community. However, some of them enjoy the people so much they spend most of their time on my site now! I've been trying to find out how to bring new users but I think having my site show up on search engines would help drive some new users..
What do you mean by profiles and comments? I also post in a few forums but I really don't like to spam... and it seems like that would be the only way to get it out to any significant amount of people. That's what xrumer does if I'm not confused
Just use the network http://marketmypressrelease.com/ its a great network for obtaining links and articles for targeted traffic. I use it all the time and it works every time.
Can you recommend some forums? Advertising on file sharing forums wouldn't be very beneficial I don't think.
I would always recommend you to build backlinks manually. This helps you to keep things in control and you will find best results. As more the efforts the more you reap. Find websites, forums or blogs related to your website and get backlink.
This is probally the best advice. I'm in the same boat as you right now Mruppert. I started a new forum from scratch. Building backlinks to a forum seems much different than regular sites. Truth is its exactly the same as any other site so you just have to build quality links and that will help get some traffic over time. Good Luck.
This is my first foray into any of this... so excuse the stupid questions. What exactly do you mean by "get backlink"? Like how do I get a backlink on a related forum or blog? Contact the webmaster? Is it something I have to pay for? Because I really don't have a lot of funds to sink into advertising or anything of the sort. I really appreciate your guys' help!
makes forum signature...with forum signature, you can shared you backlinks ... it's can effective to increase traffic for your'e website .. better you must choice relevant forum with your'e sites ... Thanks
Get your site submitted to related directories Use your web site on your signature Be active on other forums with signature links Paid - Free Backlink
Can anyone recommend good forums to use as backlinks? Thanks! Or, directories related to my niche? Because I can't seem to find any. Thanks for all of your help guys.
The best way to increase backlinks is to join relevant forums, post comments on blog and post your forum links ( i mean every new thread link) in social networking websites. Don't bother about link exchange as its oldest method and do not allow any advantage in SERP's.
The problem is that I don't want to advertise on warez sites or anything because that is not my focus really. I would much rather have intelligent users who chat about computers and related stuff! I've been posting to some webmaster forums but I don't like spam and I don't want to do anything of the sort.
What about sb sites like digg mixx propeller and some more computer related sb sites (sorry I can't remember their names but can remember seeing them). Maybe twitter or stumbleupon????
