How should contests on DP be handeled?

I, among others, have participated in contests started here for designs.

    My question is...

If the contest creator abandons the contest, what should be the consequence?

I mean, we have all contributed our time into providing our designs, and I think that no matter what, if you create a contest, you should have the responsibility to complete the contest. Abandonment should not be an option. It's not fair to the dozen+ people that participate with their time and designs.

So what do you think should be done?

    Thanks

I agree that abandoment is not fair... most of the time.

What about situations where the contest holder genuinely gets nothing he/she likes?

If that contest is in B/S/T, you can give that guy a bad rating through iTrader system.

It was a trade after all.

You are right... but to an extent. I mean... at the least, the contest creator should state that as a reason to prolong the contest. However, then they could simply just use that as an excuse to not pay or complete the contest.

For example, in one contest I entered a design for, the contest creator said "I love this one". Now, that right there says it all. Did he complete the contest... no. It's still sitting there. And no replies to PM, yet, he's around everyday.

Another one... there are some really good designs. And I personally think mine is pretty nice too :D But not a sign from the contest creator... even after like 5 of us asked for status over the past week or more.

    I see it like this...

When you start a contest, you should accept the risk of having to pick something you may not like 100%. A contest is picking the one you like best from the entries.

Now, if you start a thread and say... "I will buy the one I like and only that" instead of "this is a contest, winner gets $xx".

    Know what I mean?

Kinda the downside of getting involved in contests, ALSO, just watermark any images you send or show as many others do,

If they totally screw you , I agree , you can leave a Bad Itrader
