    you can go and post the links on forums, Blog comments and get a free backlink to your site.

    Just do not spam the forums or blog comments for the sake of getting a backlink.

    well..Comment on the blog/forum there will be an option of websites/URL to add that link will be linked as Hyper link to your Name which given while commenting the blog.

    I'd say stress more on social media now like Facebook, Twitter etc. Social Bookmarking is good too. Pinterest is becoming popular. I use it and I've seen good traffic from that source alone coming to my blog. Article writing is still good as far as bringing in traffic, of course you have to keep writing consistently.

    I was thinking on what is your purpose on creating your blog? If you want, you could use 1 link to your site and 1 link to an authority sites. What do you think? :)
