How Search Engines Break Down Keywords In Domain Names

I was trying to learn how search engines break down words in domain names. Do they just work from left to right, and pick the first words formed?

The reason I ask is that I was considering bidding on some domains at auction with "phonesexxx" in the domain name, but want to make sure that search engines pick up on "phone sex".

For instance, if I were to register something like PhoneSexXX.com (hypothetical) , would search engines break the keywords down as "Phone Sex xx" or see it as "Phones EX xx"? Because if the latter were true, my "phone sex" keyword would not be picked up.

Thank you in advance for any responses.

They work with a robot. So it's not a human but a robotic functioning.
Keywords, h1, h2 etc are used while analysing what to shortlist.
