Lately a new fashion as become popular, word cloud sites. How SE will treat then on the future, they are very easy to spot, one page full of links, and almost no content. Other problem they have is normally totally unrelated links (unless is a niche word cloud). I think buying a word on a site like this should be more a traffic related than a SEO related decision . What is your opinion?
You mean word cloud sites or a word cloud like I use on www.Submit4Backlinks.com? If you are talking about the word cloud site I think they will eventually (shortly, if not already) be classified as link farms. Way too many outgoing links for one page. If you are talking about the tag clouds on directories, I don't think they will be a problem because they are not llnked to any outgoing sites.
I think it's a good way to promote sites somehow, only relevant sites will buy on Chris's sites anyway. I don't think that if a lot of people start doing this it would be such a good idea... But only time will tell anyway, i think it was the same feeling for directories before everyone start building there dir
I'm more than certain they are going to stop no time soon and will eventually take a hit. I did buy two links on www.alivekeywords.com but I know chris will keep at it, and the PR will rise, so i'm not really worried at all his site being flagged for anything bad.
as with any other sites, you will see a sudden increase in sites like this but its only a matter of time before they vanish. Just as rob pointed out, alivekeywords.com will be there for sure because its owned by Chris who doesnt need an intro. if u do notice an increase, it would be better to do a little background check before you go ahead and buy it. if u notice the owner saying he has got huge plans for it (exceptions are there), then stay away. what he means is, buy the links fast so that i can sell it a premium rate to someone dumb enough to buy it good owner = good site = no worries.
My main concerns about these kind of sites are two 1. They don't offer any cocitation (relevant links) that from my experience is becoming one of the most important factors for good SERPs 2. What happens when the words sell out? Most owners will not be motivated to keep promoting it or even maintaning it since it's not a scalable business model.
Two major problems I see with this kind of site are the unthemed words (unless you have a niche tag cloud), and the density of the links. Basically they are all link text, with few or no unlinked sentences. Very easy for a bot to distinguish from a normal site, or an article with a few choice links embedded. So if tag cloud sites do take off, it could very easily lead to a crackdown by search engines which would bury them. And could this sort of site even exist independent of search engine love and PR? I doubt it, because there's no useful content to accompany the advertising.
i have started a link selling site there are only limited links in a page ang for the content i use yahoo rss feeds please visit my site JustGet6.com. I think limiting the number of links is search engine friendly. also you pay only for the block you need plus you get to add a link to other 5 websites/pages of yours. price range $2 - $25 depending on the page number
Aren't these basically link farms? I mean if the difference between directories and link farms is that directories are categorized then these are what?
I think this links should be bought only for traffic. Also the ones that are permanent prices will be death as soon as all spots are filled, probably some exceptions. I bought some on the range of $5-$7 dollars and I get some traffic and no big loss if the site just goes belly up.
That's a good point. Thus the extra charge with some of these sites for underline or larger test/etc. The only option that might boost for SEs is the <b></b> tags.
It all comes down to you , if you think the traffic is worth the price, since you should know theres no PR to come from that... obviously.
I think you could get some PR, off course divide from all the links there, what I don’t think will help is you SERP. If it’s a niche word page, probably could also help the SERP the problem I see there is no content only links. The big problem I see is with the business model, unless you have a yearly fee, after selling all your spots, what drives the owner to further promote the site.
I see no harm in them myself as i have bought links on them and on one site it was a pr 6. There is a theory of course that as you add new links the pr will raise. Hence, if you look at project pr 10 then you will further see its simularities. http://www.pagerank10.co.uk/ thx malcolm
