    Hi,
I work in an seo company and the tool I use for keyword research is adwords keyword tool. I optimized a client's website for a keyword that showed 12,000 visits per month and low competition. Now it is in 1st position of Google.com's 1st page and for the last 2 months it received only 25 visits. I am having similar experience with other keywords also. How reliable is this keyword tool's data? :confused:Which is the best keyword tool you ever used?

    Thank you.

The tool shows number of searches per month, however I don't think its directly propotional to number of visitors.

If the site is in the first position, and not getting much traffic, you might want to look at your headline and/or ad. Optimizing for a keyword is only one part of the puzzle...

    I agree with LynnMarie21

Also, when using the tool don't forget to select whether you want results back in broad, phrase, or exact match. The numbers can be quite different depending on which you select.

I'm sure your page is optimized correctly if it is in the #1 spot. What I feel you should do is look at some of your competitors and see what their description says and what they have in their headline. Using theirs should help you boost your visitors and make things quite simpler.

Ps. A little secret....check their meta tags. shhhh.

While I would agree initially to check your title and description, I would not say that 25/12,000 clicks is not normal even then.

Would you care to share the keyword? There is more than one method of getting to the bottom of this, we just need more information from you. :)

Reasons your clicks may be less than you expect:

    1) You used broad match on the keyword tool - try using exact match

    2) As LynnMarie said - titles and metadescription, can make a bid difference

thoriphes - I just got your PM, and it seems like JHardy_WV already beat me to the advice. You had broad matching on, which is default. It automatically looks for similar phrases and includes them in the count. Exact matching is what you should have checked. As it turns out, the keywords you sent me are not searched enough to even have a reported volume each month. (Which 25/month would be an expected number)
