How relevant is the domain TLD when it comes to SEO?

    Hello,

I have plans to create a new website and SEO it in the near future and I am currently in the domain selection phase. What I would like to know is how important is it to have a .com domain if we compare it to have the exact same domain name but with a different TLD (.net, .me, etc)

For example, lets say my website (once created) is going to target the keyword "big moose" for SEO purposes. With the idea of simplifying the SEO, I am going to get the domain name bigmoose.com. However, if I am only able to find bigmoose.me available how much impact would that TLD have for SEO purposes compared to the .com or more popular TLD's (.net or .org for example)?

    Thanks in advance.

depends how good you are at seo and how much experience
    dont get a .me
if the .com is taken get the .net If you are new to seo forget about all the .tv and .ws etc etc have a look at ccTLDs and targeting your site to a particular country

So do the likes of .eu or .tv domains carry little weight?

domain TLDs dont have much impact on SEO and all TLDs rank pretty much the same way. if you dont find your desired domain name with one extension, then try another extension but getting the keyword in the domain is more important than TLDs
