I've submitted a few sites to DMOZ that were approved. I never really noticed any direct traffic from a DMOZ listing, but some people believe having your site listed in DMOZ will help your google rankings. I'm not really sure how much it truly helps for rankings, but since it doesn't take any longer than 2 minutes to submit your site, I think it's worth submitting to DMOZ. Be aware though... it could take MONTHS before you site is approved and listed in the directory. Plus, there are a lot of speculations that they "cheat" and only list sites that aren't in direct competition with their own. Again... that's just speculation and rumor.
I've found article that said "DMOZ is a biggest directory on the internet" so many search engines will use their large databases for indexing your website" is that true??
DMOZ is a large directory and the crawlers go crazy in there! You should be getting a really good ranking thanks to that directory. (I've never been accepted though )
but why so many internet marketer say that DMOZ is worth for submit... i am not sure with how really it help to a blog even ranking or traffic..
A listing in DMOZ won't bring much additional traffic directly. However the backlink from it is valuable and would help your serps.
My opinion, DMOZ = Major Waste of Time. Not only are they so selective that you'll probably never get any sites approved, it really doesn't matter if you do because there's no benefit from it anymore.
It's worth submitting to DMOZ, but don't lose any sleep over it if you don't get in. Also, it can take some time.
its true that google and its partner using DMOZ directory listing fro their search result and index of website..its an achievement if you got listed by DMOZ. I personally feel and got good ranking in google SERP after listing in DMOZ
I happen to own 5 of these directory sites, they do get new submissions every day, and I cannot automatically add everyone to the site, as many are dupicates, or sex sites, or in another language, so you have to manually go through and approve sites, but to do that takes time every day to do this, and approve each site, and there are many individual owners of these sites that has the same issue so yes it is difficult to get listed on these directories for this reason.
DMOZ is respected by the search engines, as it's one of the oldest human reviewed directories, so a backlink from it will aide your search engine rankings
For me the impact was really all the listings in different search engines that did the difference in amount of traffic other than that I just cant see it!
Obviously... It will help you in achieving good PR. Google likes the dmoz project. Not just because google like it, it is also a high quality web directory in the world (human edited web directory which don't use any automated tools to list your website).
Yeah thats for sure it's hard to get exepted and it takes time so I can see that but for me it was the increase of traffic from different search engines that was the big difference.
