One thing that i've found in seo and site promotion is that it can be a long process to get a brand new site to page 1 or 2 of the serps for a keyword ( not just competitive ones ). I seems to take a month or so for the backlinks to get indexed and the site to gain any recognition with google. Starting from a brand new site, whats the fastest you guys have ever gotten a site to page 1?
Brand new sites take time, especially in competitive fields. As you said, the links won't count all at once.
yes thats true, new website will be having no backlinks support and no marketing popularity is done so new website will be go through the process compare to popular websites
Right. Including Google might even graph historical data. They could ask questions like "did this site gain popularity in the same fashion as the three leaders?" Google has built in a lot more historical factoring in their algo.
The thing to understand is that if you get your site structure right, you can expect rankings for long tail terms in a matter of hours. A classic example is if you type in bush shoes. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bush+shoes&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GBfficial&client=firefox-a The top results are only published yesterday. Focus on building site authority and then rankings will come naturally.
For fairly competitive words it can take a while- somewhere between six months and a year in some cases. Smaller ones can generally be done in a month or two.
It completely depends on what you are trying to rank for. If you are trying to rank for "blue levi jeans boot cut guildford" you can probably get to position 1 very quickly as soon as your page is indexed as long as you have this exact phrase on your page/pages. If you are trying to rank for "blue levi jeans" you will need alot of relevant content on your site, as well as alot of good links. Also as you age you build trust with Google so it will become more likely for you to rank. However speed of getting on page 1 depends entirely on competitiveness.
