OK, so Im starting a totally new website, domain is about 4 hours old - so its not what you would call 'aged' All my existing sites have had links built naturally over months to years - this time round I want to jumpstart and use some of the 'pro' submitters, stumblers and digg'ers here at the forums. Now - Ive got a bit of a conundrum, just how quick would be too quick for google? Im expecting quite a good volume of traffic, and most of the links I buy are going to be targetted towards increasing organic traffic rather than just purely for SEO/PR, but if I were to buy say, 5000 directory submissions and hundreds+ stumbles and digg's in the first month, would google go nuts? if so, what would be a reasonable amount? Im not adverse to waiting, but hey time is money so I want as many as possible as quick as possible!
So I guess nobody knows then Some threads say you can get away with 500-1000 per day, others swear more than 30 is madness.... what is the LEAST that anybody has had and been banned?
I personally launched a site, went through forums to find good link exchanges with people who know what they're talking about, got around 200-250 links in about 5 days, and bam, I was gone. Although on the otherhand, one of the sites im working on just now got around 1000 links in a month, and it's seeming to go up the serps instead of being penalised or banned. Hmm, who knows?
Thats broadly similar with my own findings, a new site I launched 2 months ago, got links from about 1000 different domains in the first two weeks, and got a PR3 on the TBPR update - a year ago I got no more than 500 over a similar period and I never got into the SERPS for over 6 months. My main concern is that I am starting a new site and I naturally want to build it as quickly as possible, but dont want google taking my free organic traffic.... I wonder if there is any correlation between total links and individual link weight? Ie. 10k sig links here is 10,000 backlinks, but theres a heck of a lot of OBL on each page - I wonder if that would be enough to cause problems?
I think its better to spread 10k submission over two months.Don't do any fixed number of submission per day.
thanks for the advice - and would you say that this is MORE important for a site that is brand new or would ageing be of any importance, particularly if the domain has changed hands recently, hence potential sandboxing?
