How profitable is the search box?

Is anyone making any big dollars off of the google adsense search box?

I'm considering to add it to my site, but I am a little hesitant because the site already has a search function in it, and not all of my pages will always be indexed. I have thousands of pages.

But ya, back to the original question. Is anyone making any big dollars off of the search box?

I'm not making any thing from the search. Maybe I need to redesign my site. For me, I always go to google.com to search for something. I don't even use my own website. I guess it's my habbit now.

I think you will find very few people, if any, that use their own sites to search for information on others sites. They are usually using one of the main search engines.

I'm talking about using the google adsense search box that runs a search on your website OR the entire web. Not just the entire web..

I think I've started a thread about it a year ago .... and according to a bunch of posts: it seems to be a waste of time.

Mine is working just fine and bringing in some nice dollars. Averaging around the $0.50 per click. Placement is paramount though. It's got to look a natural part of the site IMO.

That's pretty sweet. Now over what time period is that? Daily, monthly, yearly?

It is totally a waste of time. Last month I got 30 cents from search box. This month 0$. Actually, I'm thinking about romoving them.

I use the search box, above the ads - it gets a few people using it. I think it depends on how large your site is - on a site with only a few pages, I don't think it would work so well, but on a site with lots of articles there's more reason to use it, so more chance people will click.

I don't personally find it worth it. People leave my site from it and they normally don't click the sponsored ads. I guess it depends on the site.

Google search is absolutely useless if your TG gets most of the material from your site.

If the material is not niche, he wont search your site. If it is, you can make a few buks.

IMO, dont use the search button if there is not much "articles" related content on ur site.

I got $0.15 today from my search box and thought I struck gold if that tells you anything about the proftability of search boxes. I just use it because it's a useful tool for visitors.

On one of my sites it worked for a while and I was getting nice money for the clicks, but now I get maybe 5 searches a day and maybe 2 clicks a month. I have pretty much just plonked it there though
