How PR or WEb Rank Work

Hello Respected members,

This post is posted to know that on basis google rates any website. i have 3-4 websites and i am not able to understand what is going on.

1. First of all i am not sure that PR update has been done or not..
2. If the update is done, why the things are so haywire, one of my website namely ankurlekhi.com remained on PR 3 with the back links of nearly 204 and max back links of PR 2. However on the other hand site named www.technology-post.info has come down to 0 even though the site backlinks are more than 300 + PR6 back link is also present.

Now more interesting thing is this, home page rank is 0 however see this-

http://technology-post.info/?page_id=2 has page rank of 2

http://technology-post.info/?cat=18 PR 2

http://technology-post.info/?p=243 PR 1 (and this is alone article)

Seriously not too sure what is going on and if any body can suggest me what to do, i will be really great full to them.
Help me!!!!

(please note i am not questioning google's position, it is just that i am not clear of some facts!!! i hope you better understand my position)

 

Penalized? Also, if your site is bad quality I heard that they have google voters who can vote your site up or down......

 

Well not clear because on technology-post.info i have around 300 post and as comparison to ankurlekhi.com which has just 30 post.. Moreover i never-ever copied any content. if i had copied something, i can understand that i had something wrong and i should be penalised or what so ever!!!
So why i have been penalised???

gr8 to know stats, now how can i bring back the things which i lost, i mean quality. i do write some of the advertisement, however with that i am also posting up some good and real stuff. And moreover if this applies then we should not take care of backlinks!!!

 

Focus on building traffic not on building PR unless you are selling links

 

Totally agreed to your points however i am not to sure, why i lost all this. i am into publishing articles for the advertisers so i need PR @ any cost.

 

Agree with the aboves.
stop thinking about pagerank and focus on traffic.

 

pr algo is a big secret but there is only one think about it.

it's being calculated with your backlinks.

if your subpages has more page rank, it means that your subpages has more backlinks.

people are linking to your subpages , not home page

 

Can these people over-ride the rating that Google's mathematical algorithm gives to a site, or even impose a penalty? Also, what determines which sites they look at? Does anyone know exactly how this works, or where I can find more info?

 

As far as i know the google update is still ongoing. Its in 2 waves the first wave has already been done, leaving things a bit haywire. While we are waiting for the second to set things back to normal.

 

Well i think we must be aware of how the things work. i will really appreciate if some senior member can come and address this issue or let us know from where we can get the reliable information.

need to be very much particular about PR. If PR update is going on.. when it will be completed.. and if its completed, how can come to know when it had completed.
