I have a new site that I am trying to promote for a specific set of keywords. The site is well done, with internal linking designed to promote the main page via the butterfly method. I have promoted it through directory submissions, social bookmarking, squirt, stumble, etc. I made it to the front page right off the bat at number 5. Within a week I was at number 10 and here is the crazy part. Almost everyone one of the new sites knocking me down is a brand new blogspot blog using some form of the keyword in the URL. Needless to say, I am rather shocked at how much google loves themselves. In an effort to combat these sites, I have a blogspot page with the keyword that links back to my site along with Squidoo and even Goooglepages. Is this enough? I can't find any links to these sites, but I know my own blogspot site isn't in the first few pages. Any idea how they are doing it? I found several of them on Netscape. Is that link enough to bypass me? Thanks!
Its free, it will never be that powerful. Since its free people make themselves believe alot of things about it that aren't even closely true.
Could you explain what you mean by the Butterfly Method? Also, when you say you made it to number 5, and then dropped to number 10, which search engine are you talking about? Looks like its MSN, because Google cant be so unpredictable.
i started a new blog in blogger say a week ago and another one about a month old but it's still not cached in google inspite of regular postings.. but my wordpress blog got cached in few hours or so..
my one month old blogspot blog hosted on custom domain was indexed within 24 hours and fetched good SE traffic. Plus the wordpress is in no way closer to the customization offered by blogspot.
Blogspot is powerful in terms of letting the ordinary person set up a blog in 5 seconds. Its not powerful in terms of letting us web entreprenuers make thousands of dollars easily.
A well written article as a blogpost can bring good amount of traffic. Many companies often utilize this method when they cannot use much keywords on the main website pages.
A quick update. Yes, I am talking about Google. In the month of July, there were many new sites using a form of this keyword as the URL name of a blogspot site. From what I have seen, Google has a tendency to pick up sites from Blogspot high in rankings at first, then they settle down. I've been watching this keyword for a month now and it has been very volatile. Another Free web creator called weebly.com has had the exact same effect. I have seen 3 sites enter the top 10/20 from weebly within a matter of days of creation. They were also using a form of the keyword in their url, aka key-word.weebly.com, similar to a blogspot URL. From what I have seen, these sites were using Netscape to help propel them to the front quickly. I imitated this and not only did I jump back into the 5th position, but my Netscape post made number 15 on page 2. Too bad Netscape is going to stop digg like stories. Butterfly Linking refers to Precision Guided Linking of my internal site structure. It's designed to be the most efficient it can be as far as pushing the search engine spiders through the site the way they expect, without hampering my visitors. It uses things like "no follow" and javascript to guide the search engines through the site in a specific way. Another term for this is called mininet. I'll leave it up to you to find more info. ;-)
Yes! I have a question about blogspot that Can we put Google Ads in blogspot blogs? to have some revenue?
To get your page cached quickly add it to your google bookmarks and the sites thats google crawls daily like social bookmarking sites, tag sites and few popular blogs, write a comment on a blog relevant to your blog and leave link to your blog.
