How Powerful are forum sigs?

Yes,I know The value of signature but i am not using it now,I am doing own site after completing this site then i will add signature.

 

SIG links are good becouse few resons:

1. You get some baclinks.. if Your keywords are not so competive You can get some results in SERPS
2. You receive targeted and quality traffic
3. You can increase your PR (some of DP members profile pages has over pr3+)

Powerful if it has nofollow attributes.. As backlinks and drives traffic and increase in SERPs.

 

Powerful if it has Nofollow? They are very weak links if they are Dofollow, let alone being Nofollow.

Signature links are junk for SERP's, if you think they are great you need to reassess your linking strategies.

 

Signatures helped me to get listed on search engines. Thats it you cant expect more.

 

1.) Check whether the forum allows the bots and unregistered visitors to see the links.
2.) They do count as backlinks, but do not have much weight.
3.) A fair amount of targetted traffic can come your way. Forums like DP have a large number of people logging in everyday. Plus it ranks well for many search terms on the net. So if any visitor comes from the SE's, and finds your post in that particular thread interesting, he may click your signature link.

 

I get 5-50 visitors from my sigs everyday, it also helped my site get pr 3 it isn't much, but i got this for only few hundreds of posts...

 

forum sigs? it helps a of course but not that high. there are still some ways which weigh more than forum sigs. like one-way (I think its the best, especially quality ones.)

i think forums are a good spot to jump start your site, you have a large audience, which somewhat are your peers (we all signed up for because we have similar interest).

 

as far as i know forums are powerful and consider as one of the great advertising tool. So posting on a popular forum and creating your sig might result in quality backlinks at the same time improving the popularity and overall search engine ranking of your site..It can also increase your traffic, the more post you have and informative, the more traffic you'll receive..

Here is a related question, how much time per day are you guys spending on forums like DP?

 

They will help to a certain degree, you wont get a huge SERP boost, but you will get some.

Taking into account that a single thread will have multiple replies and each person that replies has 4 outbound links in their sig, one page now has 40+ outbound links so each link will carry very little weight.

Also if you have a high post count say 500+ thats 2,000 backlinks which sounds good but they are all coming from one site/ip address so again Google will see this and give less weight for that backlink.

 

They help a little, do not expect great results.
Some forums are powerfull enough to appear when you use the google link:yoursite

It a cheap way to get some links to your sites, and very targeted traffic.
But please, dont post only for the link thing, just post for learning and to give your opinion.
The link only will be alittle bonus, not the purpose of the post.

 

I think it's a good strategy if your sig links are related to the forum... probably a bit of a waste otherwise.

 

I think the main advantage of forum sigs are the ability to associate multiple and varied keywords to the site in the link's anchor text.

Is it better to have a sig link or a anchor text link in the comment? Or is there a difference. I heard somehwere that Google is or has lowered greatly the importance of comment and sig links. Is this true?

 

IMHO - Forum sig link is one of the best way to get backlinks to your site. For example, If you had a site on a "fishing" niche and if you were to join a "fishing niche forum" and have your sig linked back to your fishing site. That would be cosidered an authority link.
