How posts compare with pages in ranking for search engines

Hello, i've been using a wordpress platform for my website, and after having some static pages, i was thinking of starting to post on a regular basis.

I can't really understand how posts are compared with search engines, as they do not belong to a page on the website, they are sort of in mini folders and archives.

So how are they indexed with their title etc, are they any good for SEO purposes

    Thanks

Posts are indexed individually and are very good for SEO especially if they are optimized for a certain keyword, usually the post ranks for a keyword and not the blog itself.

Thanks for the information, this could be a very useful and powerful tool for SEO.

One last thing open to the floor, if the post ranks individuall for the keyword, is it possible that thousands of posts over a year would help rank the site, or would each post be treated singular at that point.

What i'm saying is, will lots of posting help the site too. As in its popularity and crawling schedules.

    Thanks

It depends on the relevancy and the popularity of your homepage to your internal posts. Suppose your website's homepage category is Internet Marketing and have all the internal posts discussing on the content related to all part of Internet Marketing such as SEO,PPC, Affiliate Marketing and you got huge popularity to most of your posts, then your main page along with internal posts ranks well to the given keyword search. But there are very less chances to have a domain with a core keyword category and hence it is not possible to the main site to rank along with the internal posts/pages to a given search! However, if you continuously update your site/blog you can increase the crawling rate but popularity depends on the quality of your content.
