After blogging for any length of time, eventually we make a conscious or unconsciously decision as to what the personal boundaries of our blog are going to be. How personal is your blog? Do you have pictures of yourself? Your name? Family Pictures?
Interesting question! I have been blogging for four years. I have an "immigrant blog": I started mine in my first few years in Canada. Eventually, as I grew interested in photography, it also became a travel photography blog as I traveled around the world. I use a pseudonym but my real first name is not a big secret. I occasionally emailed and met some of my readers so some people also know my last name. I have a few pictures of me, one on the front page, in the "about" section and here and there when traveling. My partner is pictured a few times as well when we were backpacking. That said, people don't know where I work, just roughly what I'm doing. I have zero family/ friends pictures and no pictures of my place either. I can share some "deep secrets" (i.e. I used to hate driving, I don't like ice cream, visiting my home country makes me sad) yet I don't tell much about my everyday life. Most people don't know whether I'm married etc. unless you read carefully the 400 posts from the beginning. I feel comfortable that way. First, I personally find very personal blogs generally boring, unless the main subject is particularly interesting (I wouldn't mind reading about the life of a spy!). I don't care what you had for lunch, I assume you don't care what I had for lunch either. Second, I'm already not on Facebook because I believe it's not a good idea to share everything with everyone. If you type my first+last name, you can find my blog easily. Therefor, I always keep in mind my employers could read it for instance. I don't blog about work at all (except general "just got a new job" or "how to find a job"). Basically, my rule is to write articles I'm proud of. Politics, news, ideas, art etc. are things I can stand by and I won't be ashamed of if someone I know or work with "discovered them".
My blog is pretty personal. In my header, there's four pictures of me along with my real name (including my last name). I blog about my life, and I have about 500 readers every day. I talk about everything, and I post just about everything. Pictures of friends, of my family... everything! My blog is really personal.
I am blogging for 3 years ago and I startinmg my first personal blog until now. it is really personal, i mean my blog have my real name with my photo, facebook account, and Twitter follower badge. I love doing blog commenting for my personal blog because I shared everything about blogging tips on My personal Blog..
My blog is not that personal until everyone knows what I am doing daily. However, from reading my blogs, the readers will know my interests and hobbies, plus my reflection on many matters, such as marry for love or money, my viewpoint about the love of money etc.
I have several blogs and I don't get very personal in any of them. In my travel blog, I write about where I've been, never where I'm going. And never WHEN I am going away. I have pictures of me, my husband and adult daughter. But none of my grandchildren nor do I use their names in any place I post, including Facebook. While I like to share, I feel there are just too many crazies out there. Too much of our lives are open books. I don't feel I need to make it easier.
I have 4 blogs. They're all quite personal, but one is basically a diary with photos! So yes, very personal.
i have two blogs, but none of them are so personal. but right now i am considering some changes. As sometimes, i do not know what to update with the same old stories and topics... aha, any suggestions.
