Do you think (or know) that most visitors click your ads because they think they're links or because they like the ad? I know blending helps, which leads me to think that most visitors blindly click on the blended ad thinking it's a link to more content. Your thoughts?
Well I'd say due to blending people think of it as not an ad and click it to see more of the content that is offered on the site viewing. But the ad has to be relevant to the content.
some of them click because of the blending (by mistake), but most of them click because they are interested in that product.
Because of interest in the ad. I try not to blend the ads *too* much anyway as I don't want to dupe people into clicking my ads - I'd rather they clicked the ad because they're interested in it and knowing it's an ad, as they're more likely to have done what they wanted on my site and be ready to leave, rather than being duped into clicking and leaving prematurely. In my mind, I see the ads as a route off my site if someone wants to leave, and a route that'll make me a bit of money. And yeah, I get a pretty good CPM and CTR per unique visitor. Although, I know a lot of people on DP make sites soley for the purpose of getting Adsense clicks, so then you're more likely to be blending and getting people clicking thinking they're links.
I think, most of those who click in the ads doesn't care wheter this is an advertisiment, or not. And some of them just like and are interested in good ads.
I think some clicked unknownly considering as a part of website and some clicked due the keywords they are searching for....
I have been tricked before from some realllly good blended ads, i thought it was just the next page.... But i think there are some good looking ads that people do wanna click
On my sites its bullcrap, honestly. People click because they are itnerested in product, I would click them too if I was visiting my site and they weren't my ads... but the GET YOUR FREE ALBANIAN RINGTONE TODAY ad becomes enter your phone number and subscribe for 19.99 a month to get your ringtone so i doubt they convert. in fact I got an email once of a simmilar thing happening, someone entered their phoen nuimber and kept geting sms messages. they emailed me for me to stop sending sms to them, to which i replied as the retarded episode cartman from southpark. edit: I personally click on some ads if its what I'm looking for, BUT I AM A SUCKER FOR THOSE "Shoot Monkey with BinLaden Face to win an iPhone" Ads... Always play them. doubt they make any more than like 1 cent a click though.
It seems that when the ads are blended in well with the content, those ads get the most clicks. The ads that are just too obvious and off from the main content seem to get ignored.
