Particularly in regards to using swear words. Is it really that big of a deal to speak your mind? What I mean is writing in such a way to become more of the way you actually speak to someone when telling a story.
Well since you want the potential client base to be as broad as possible I would pace myself, as to not offend anyone, who might otherwise have become a customer. Some like the approach you suggest, others hate it. Go in between and try to reel them both in.
I think people are a little hesitant to buy from the overly-hyped pitch pages that worked in the past. I wouldn't swear on a pitch page, as it could offend someone who otherwise would have bought your product. That could cost you sales in the long run. There's nothing wrong with being informal, but being informal doesn't necessarily mean using swear words.
i'm trying to think that people use swear words to gain attention. although, most of the time i find them offensive. it's cute if you're using it on f2f communication wherein you can still see that person facial expressions but read it online it's hard to imagine it at something pleasant or that sort. i wouldn't swear personally since it believe it's a whole lot better to be courteous and respectful but i wouldn't also mind people cursing since it's a form of self-expression that's pretty controversial
Well, it depends on what the page is about, isn't it? Sometimes with some products, cussing a little bit helps make a sale. Strange? Yup. Is it an "about me" page??? How would you act on a job interview, when the interviewer is sort of laid back? Put that on paper.
Swearing in front of any prospective client is forbidden in most industries. I remember back in my factory working days that we had a few people get let go from the job because they would cuss in front of a customer during tours. This kind of practice is just not allowed. I would not do it. Now there are times when it is acceptable. I would say that if your in the adult niche then using a few choice words would embellish your content. But, you never really want to over do it. So with that in mind, take a look at what your selling and then go from there. For example: Title 1: The Best Dog Training E-Book Title 2: The Best Damn Dog Training E-book Which one to you is the best.
Don't go there. You never know who you're going to offend. Same goes for being funny. Just use the old John Carlton "This is what I have, this is why you should buy, this is what I want you to do next". Keep it simple.
Look at your target demographics, and ask yourself how you would like them to react. In other words, define your objective and tailor your method to achieve it. There are no hard and fast rules here. Barney Fife's not on patrol (sorry Norman)
lol. I do think that you have to watch what you say in your ads. You never know who is going to read them. One wrong word can have a huge effect on your sales. Now is that effect going to be bad or good? It all goes back to that one single little word. But, if 100 people don't mind and one does. It falls back to your target market. Do your research before building your ad page.
It really depends who you are addressing/the target audience of your pitch. Lets say that it is young hip-hop interested people - if these type of people normally use the words that you want - then it is ok. However, if you are addressing to, say, priests and bankers...then they will not read 2 lines of your message. In general, then you should never use swearign because it may turn off some people that may otherwise listen to you. Generally, people swear because they have weak argument for their point of view/opinion - so, remove all the swearing - and you will end up with a much better and cleaner text. Basically, swearing just add extra fil to the text - and you always should want your text to be as short as possible while still getting your message out. So, the short answer is "yes, don't swear - ever" since it actually weakens your message. I could write your article for you if desired if you give me the subject. Example is below of copy with no swearing where I say something bad about a product/speak for another product: "When you want to look good - real good - for an important job interview or that crucial meeting with that big client or a special event - then you don't want anything to degrade from your look. So, you have done your outmost to shine your shoes and wear a proper suit in dark colors where pants and jacket match each other. Now, remove any jewelry if you are a man because jewelry like a replica rolex or earring jewelry and necklaces can in some situations actually detract from your message and personal integrity - and that is the last thing you want to happen. Also, be sure who you are meeting and their dress code because you don't want to be over-dressed if you are going to meet someone who work outdoors or in a dirty environment like mechanic - but, if you meeting bankers then you definitely want to wear a suit - but, if you are meeting artists like actors or musicians then a suit can still be used - but, you might want to take off the jacket in order to "dress-down" to better match their normal dress code. Look at the people and the environment they work in before you choose what clothes to wear and you will have a good idea what to wear. Generally, then a suit will always be ok - and you can always take off the jacket - and even even lose the tie if you get the feeling you are overdressed. Being over-dressed or under-dressed can make or break your sale or message because it can make the other person feel un-easy with you - and so can any un-wanted jewelry on un-shined shoes do just as well. You can see how the message is above without using any swearing? It is much cleaner message. Also, best way of writing is ually to write informal style - like if you write a letter to a good friend of yours. That way you write in an easy to understand way - and, the target audience also feel, you are talking directly to them. So, use the word "you" and "your" all the time and never use the word "I" or "me" or "we" - ever...People only care about what's in it for them, so to speak. Hope this helps you a bit.
