Hi New here so hello all. I have spent two months developing a social networking site based around the ratings game 'wed bed or dead' (a forced choice game). I am getting members and a bit of traffic but am hitting a brick wall with how I am meant to market the site. The problem for me is that SEO is pointless on it (very low related searches for game terms on google - literraly tens per month) so I dont see traffic or growth from searched. So its looking like I have to go off the wall and a bit viral - something I have never done before. Has anyone else got good traffic to a site that is totally unique but not very markeable in the 'traditional' internet sense. Or am I missing something obvious?? Any suggestions greatfully reveived! The site is at: http://www.wedbedordead.com Cheers Jason
There's not alot of text on the site. I'd suggest using alt text for starters and updating the meta tags since they're pretty weak and non descriptive.
Increase the text with at least a few sentences about what the game is. It took me a few seconds to catch on, but others might just click away. I'd get a lot more pictures/profiles up on it. It took me just a couple of plays to get nothing but the same pictures over and over again. I like the concept, you just need to get it in front of people. Here are my ideas: 1) Get it stumbled and get others to stumble it. 2) Get some blog posts up about the site. If you write the blog posts yourself, then focus keywords that may be unrelated to the game, but that will get you relevant traffic to the blog post. 3) Screencast yourself using it and most of all enjoying it. Upload the screencast to Yahoo. 4) Comment on related blogs. Get out there and make several hundred blog comments. Interest people in visiting your site.
Thanks for the ideas - never heard of screencast so thanks for that. I will look at adding some text onto the front page as well to explain things a bit. thanks guys
