    Hi there,

I've read several different things about the age of links and how much of a difference it makes and I'm looking for opinions.

For example if you get a link with PR5 today, how long until the link makes a difference to SERPs? Is it just until the search engines take the time to find the link and register it, or do they need to find it a few times over the course of a few months or so?

    cheers

SERPS is not related with a single PR5 link or backlinks

It takes into account variety of factors....

    yeah I know.

I'm assuming all onpage and offpage optimization has taken place.

In your opinion, when google (or whoever) finds a great link to your site, does it take a long time for the "juice" to pass to you, or does the link need to be old?

I don't know exactly but i think that when google indexed PR5 web site and see your link after that you will get rank.

Yep! It takes time to see the difference caused by link(s) and I believe the duration depends on the quality of the website. How strong it is and how frequently it is crawled by SEs.

I think it would depend on the PR level of the website where your link is located. A website with a high PR level would mean that your link is more exposed to the search engine crawlers.

I assume it's when Google indexes the PR5 link.
