This is probably a juvenile question for most of you, but I'm new at SEO and was wondering because I don't ever want my site to be considered spam, yet I want to be on top of my game and submit every time I should be. Thanks in advance for the help.
You shouldn't have to submit to google or any search engine. Once you got some backlinks, google will automatically crawl your site weekly
Tnanks, that clears things up greatly. By the way, what are backlinks and how do I obtain them? Thanks
newlogo, you obviously don't know what you're talking about. bullitt, if you want your web site indexed by search engines, you can submit it once in the site's lifetime, not more than that. But the real, professional way to get a site indexed is to get a link from another site that is already indexed.
Submitting to SE is waste of time especially on populer like G, Y, and Bing.. they will deduct automatically.. Better to submit on non populer SE.. but if they rank in 1 position also no use will not return any traffic
You don't need to submit your website to search engines. Start geting links and they will find you. If you want, you can use RPC protocol to notify google and other search engines that you've updated your site.
Submit once via Google Webmaster Tools then build links. There's no point having an unlinked site yet telling Google each time you alter it. Far better to spend time building links.
There used to be sites that offered to submit your site to all of the search engines for you... The problem is they did you absolutely no good because the search engines have no trouble finding you... Any SE worth its salt will find you soon enough so do not bother with SE submissions...
Never submit your site to search engines, and if you do, just do it once. Get some backlinks, that will help your site get crawled and submit a sitemap to your google webmaster tools and your Yahoo Site Explorer - and that is all you need to do.
Dear bullitt, submit your site to search engines if you have a brand new website on a brand new domain. I would consider submitting a new sub-domain as well. Then, create a sitemap and submit it to Webmaster Tools. This is the correct way to keep Google up to date. I have heard of instances when Google recommends re-submitting a website (I think it was after being banned and solving the issue.) I don't think it is necessary to submit your website to search engines on any other occasions. I don't believe submitting often would hurt your site. Otherwise, any company could harm their competitor by submitting their competitor's website 1000-times a day. It just makes sense that search engines try hard to eliminate any possibility of unfair competition.
