How Often Should I Submit My Website To The Search Engines?

I did some research online and some says that you should submit only once and others says 3 times... I just don't know the right answer?

    Can you help?

Submit only once and then work on building backlinks. By building backlinks the search engines will find you on their own. Start spreading your links around the internet, soon enough you will be listed. ( Digg your site for quick access )

There is no real need to submit to the engines. They will eventually find you on their own.

If you still want to submit, do it for Yahoo, MSN and Google. Most of the remaining ones hardly send any traffic.

I never submit sites. I submit an xml sitemap through Google Webmaster tools. Then I just focus on getting some good links. The search engines will find you if you build up quality inbound links.

Yeah one of my websites got listed on #1 from 47 millions listings just in few days after registering a domain...I'vnt done anything particular :)

Just be sure to register a domain highly relevant to your main keyword, optimise your content properly and you are ready to go - Search engines will find you on their own !

    cheers

Yeah the major thing is to verify your site at Google Webmaster Tools and submit your sitemap. Other than that, just build quality and keyword rich content and get as many relevant and quality sites to link to you with some good anchor text. Slowly you will see your rankings increased and a number of visitors coming from the different keywords.

Using Google and their webmaster tools is the only way to go.
If you are going to submit to Google through their webmaster tools, be sure to submit a XML site map. Google will index you faster.

I submitted my very first site to search engines while I didn't do it for the rest. Just link the new site to an already existing site (it may be yours) or link it to some of the high traffic sites (sig. link in this forum or any other site) and eventually search engines will find it and index.

Submit one to each search engine.
There is no point if you keep submitting same URL to search engine.
The most important thing is building backlink that it will determine your PR

I always submit only to Google and Yahoo, when I start a site. And then all other engines just copy off of them. And I submit only once.

No need to submit to search engines. Your site will get indexed
faster simply by having a link to your site in your signature on
    this forum.

I've never submitted any of my sites and have never had a
problem ranking well on the search engines.

I do it once or twice a year. I tend to use AddMe, or just manually ad them by going to the SE's add url link. I've found the quickest way to get indexed and listed is to simply tell the SE you exist.

Google's own recommendation is that you don't need to submit your site at all - if it's got any backlinks, they will find it
" you don't even need to submit your site to Google. Google is a fully automated search engine that uses software known as "spiders" to crawl the web on a regular basis and find sites to add to our index. In fact, the vast majority of sites listed in our results aren't manually submitted for inclusion, but found and added automatically when our spiders crawl the web."
