I was wondering about that since one of my listings in the dmoz directory was updated with a new URL 3 days ago, but the google directory still shows the old URL.
I wonder why they don't update it daily, or perhaps weekly. With the computer power and technology that google possesses one would think such an update could be done in few minutes, or even seconds. (it's not that big a database at least not when compared to the google www search and the likes).
I don't think that the DMOZ dumps their database daily, so Google can't update that often. Any anyway, the directory is probably not a top priority for Google - otherwise it would still be linked on google.com
It would not be too difficult for google to update it more often if they wanted to. I update my odp clon - http://www.geek-toy.com/ - more often (around once a month) than google does
