How often does Google update external links?

I'm currently using the webmaster tools from Google to follow links etc that are coming in to my site since the link: command and others are only updated once in a long while. I have my site indexed 5 times so far (about once every 8 days) and each time I had my external backlinks list update the next until the past two. How does this mechanism work, does everyone get to see updated backlinks on the same day in the way PR updates itself across the board or does it base it on date of last indexing? As I said, until the past 2 indexes I always was able to see an updated list the day after.

Really? I was getting updates every 1-2 weeks, does their server update everyone's backlinks at the same time or is it on an individual basis like indexing is?

 

It depends of websites PR. And yes, Google doesn't show all backlinks since they are hiding their algorithm.

 

Takes close to 3 weeks for me. Depends on your niche I suppose

 

it is always few days for my websites.

 

I think its depending on the content you have on your website

 

For me, it updates after 1 or 2 weeks
