I just don;t understand the frequency of Alexa updating our sites links as in 'Sites linking in'. My site's info has remained unchanged for the past few months despite me increasing my links.
that link is on rankings, this thread is on linkings... and to answer the question, I have no clue...according to them my site only has two links in...where as Yahoo says 2000. Of course Google says 20 so I guess it really makes no difference. I've been listed in Alexa for several months now, and they update my rank every three days. I got added into their directory (yay 4 dmoz) and I've seen other updates...the only thing they have not done was a speed check, and a link update...so *shrug* yearly?
One of the sites I work on for a client was also very eager to get the Alexa back links updated. It eventually happened when Alexa updated its results in a year. However, it can take more than a year as I don't know when the links were updated last, before this Alexa update. When this happened, Alexa traffic graphs had stopped updating (usually they update on a daily basis) for more than a week, probably because they were busy with the links update.
patience is the key, build on your site and don't keep on looking at alexa - they are not 100% acurate anyway.
besides that i would believe like any good ranking system , they would calculate a link back froma site based on wether the linking site is a site of worth according to alexa , IMHO .
Takes time.. from what i can see. 4-6 times a year. So, expect it to take time. Concentrate on building more backlinks!
You are 100% right. My rank can jump from 2,000,000 in less than 1,000,000 in a week. And swing back to 3,000,000 the next week. Aren;t we lucky that we are depending on a more reliable stuuf called PR
