How often do you reinstall Windows on your machine?

Hi everyone,

Just a question out there for you: How often do you reinstall windows on your computer? I would like to know if I am the only one that reinstalls it every 6 months to 1 year. Please post and let me know.

Well. If you have a pirated copy, then yes you need to reinstall it becasue microsoft won't let you set there happly without paying them.

However if your copy is genuine, then i would say you need to use an anti-spyware and clean up programs.

Some of my friends have their windows running for more than 2 years with no problems.

 

I think I've reinstalled my computer one time during the last five years. As long as you don't install a lot of crap and keep it clean from viruses/spyware there's really no need to reinstall more often

Every 6 months. it flies after and within 6 months is grinding again. no big deal I have a ghost image of the vanilla set up etc. and it make me organize my data a little better (i.e. I back it up)

 

I havent re installed XP yet on any of my machines. Been running that for a few years now.

I was reinstalling XP probably every 6 months (which would be the breaking point that I'd finally get so pissed at it for not working right or being too slow).. Haven't reinstalled yet since I switched to Server 2003, although it's long overdue (since a) I have a much faster SATA drive that the OS should be on, rather than the ancient drive it's on now, and b) it's gotten so messed up that certain things don't even run on this machine now, like Flash 8)

 

i used to install every month, but since i'm using antivirus, antispyware/adware/malware, firewall, errors and registry cleaner, it's up for more than 9 months and working fine

 

I always re-install window cos I always am infected with spyware.

 

I re-install it quite often actually. When I have a lot of programs on which I don't need any more, or if I just fancy a fresh install. I would say on average I do it once every six months.

I don't use antispywares because they may slow down my computer .My *OLD* computer.I think it's time to pick up a new one.

 

I tend to own each machine for approx 2 years, and it might get wipped once in that time, but I've nearly done 2 years on my current.

 

Every five or six months. Sometimes I just HAVE to update, I have all the updated stuff and drsmartload or spysheriff or whatever comes up and I can't do anything to make it go so I just... reinstall windows

i reinstall my Windows XP usually after 9-12 months;

 

I try to avoid reinstalling. If I do I make a backup of everything & preferences etc. Every 8 months on an average...

 

I never reinstall. However, if you have never had decent virus/spyware protection, you may want to reinstall, and get that protection and start fresh. See my site in my signature for many free protection tools.
