How often do backlinks update?

    Hi guys

    I've noticed the backlinks to my sites seem to have stayed exactly the same for a while now (probably around a month). I've added a number of new backlinks, so what I'm wondering is....generally...how often does Google update its index of backlinks to your site?

    Yahoo and MSN update all the time but Google, well watching for a backlink update from them is almost as fun as watching paint dry or the grass grow. If your going to watch the grass grow, make sure your not looking at artificial turf. :D

    it's very frustrating. last few times when tjhey updated, backlinks to my site went down. like a kick in the teeth.

    even google takes sometimes a bit more time in indexing new pages than others

    Rest assured that Google knows all about your backlinks. Their know your one-way, reciprical, three-way and other linking schemes too. The fact that they do not update their publicly displayed backlinks (and PageRank, etc.) is probably to discourrage folks from creating SEO Tools like This One.

    Google used to update monthly about a year or more ago now they update every 3 or 4 months. It's really random now so you never know.

    Yahoo is the best place to check your backlinks if you are keeping an eye on that. They are like the old google when they would display every possible link you had.
