How often are google positions updated

    I have just update the look and content of a website, which has re-set the PR to 0.

    Traffic from keywords has always been 0 as we do not feature in top 100 for any words. How often does google update keyword positions?:confused:

    As they crawl pages they recalculate the positions. The time really varies site to site.

    The PR is updated a few times a year. The position in the search results page is updated as an ongoing process.

    You need to work on backlinks, and they update everyday 1-5 days,

    My page bounces around from position 3-7 a couple of times a day.

    Google updates the position every minutes, unless their server is down.

    Every day or all the time. You site may not be revisited every day, but is continuously updating it database. You keyword position may change at any moment.

    When everyone says you need to get backlinks, how many backlinks are necessary? Is there a number? 10? 100? 1000? Also, are too many considered spam?
