How often are google "local" results updated?

    I'm wondering how often google updates their results for google local results. I'm on the 4th page right now but a little over a week ago I did a bunch of work on getting local links to the site as well as biggest business directories and review sites but there hasn't been any change. Most of the links from the directories have been indexed but I haven't seen them added to the sites shown under the local listing yet.

    Does google update these weekly? Monthly? Any ideas?

    Here is an image to show the results I'm speaking of. They are generated when a location is detected in the search:

    Hello,
    It depends on your backlink, the more quality backlinks to your site, the faster you will get replacement and the more Google crawler stops by your site.

    If you want to rank in Google local results, you have to submit your site to Google Local Business Center.

    http://www.google.com/local/add/

    Once you add site, Google will verify your business via phone or physical post. Phone verification is generally quick and takes 5 minutes where physical post takes about 2-3 weeks.

    I hope it helps you!

    @Lovely:
    I think you are talking about the main rankings which I'm already #1. I think they are updated differently. I bet "local" is completely separate from the main results and have nothing to do with each other. That is how you can be #1 in the main and on page 4 for the local results like I am.

    @kash_2000:
    I already submitted my site a long time ago and have been in the results for a while now, I'm just low and I'm just now getting around to doing something about it. It wasn't a big deal before when the local results were only 3 long and they were lower the top 3 normal rankings but now that google decided to add 10 results BEFORE the first regular result it's really messing with traffic.

    If someone has experience in local results and has an idea how often they are updated or how long it takes to see the fruits of your labor then I would love to get an idea of the time it takes.

    Don’t forget about data centers. Is see changes in about 4 hour increments. Some data centers retain info for 24 to 72 hours. Higher Link pop / Pagerank will get you more stability.

    I don't think local results are updated that often. Google comes to my site about every other day and there are changes I made there as well that would effect the local results positively but the results have not updated. I'll keep waiting I guess.
