How NOT-to build links

Yesterday, someone just PMed me from nowhere, thing that I start to dislike about digitalpoint, more and more spam across PM. I can't just restrict PM as I'm an active forum user and I like to talk to my friends from DP alot.

So this guy, messages me and somehow demands a link on my dating site in exchange for a PR2 toyota car website. *woot?!*

I have the whole message on my blog: http://www.scorpiono.com/the-daily-www/the-dumbest-request-on-digitalpoint-ever

Whoever paid him to start a link building campaign, I'm deeply sorry, kind regards! :(

Definetly... or at least find someone good at it.

    Wow. That sucks.

Luckily I'm new enough where I don't get that kind of crap :)

Hah, I think there is real value in making an offer to someone, if it seems like it would be up their alley. It is something I've done from time to time because it works, and if I'm contacting someone about something they've stated their looking for (even if it was to another forum user, but posted in a thread for example) they have been grateful that I reached out to them.

Obviously, there is a line. I've gotten spammed to and it is annoying. As is having to wait 60 seconds between sending PMs, but alas, this is the very reason why this forum imposes that restriction!

Yeah, 60 second restriction is a good thing. Too many jokers/scammers are running rampant these days.

This is a soft-version of spam on DP for me, but the request is the dumbest ever.

I've received a few similar messages. If the solicitation was for a link exchange with someone who has researched my sites and has a related site, I wouldn't mind so much. But the messages I received were pure spam.
