Awesome post Mitch - this should be a stick for sure. Doesn't mean people will read it first before running around the farmyard screaming the sky is falling, but it might help. Well done - if it would let me rep you twice I would on this one; kudos!
There's something wrong with this!? If that would be right this thread was to be declared as crap as you possibly get good reputation from everyone. ok ok now everyone is possibly thinking that we all are absolutely NO veterans... we are all just beginners
glad u got that off your chest. # yOU CAN BREATHE NOW. Would not want you running round shooting everybody who mentioned the words "update" and "NOW!"
Nice post mitch - seems like there are still many that suffer from pixel envy and the desire to be the first to post that an update is ocurring. 7 pages of nothing so far in the latest incarnation..... Someone should make this one a sticky and a read before posting in this forum.
Totally agree. Can't understand why they feel the need to run to the forum and post that their site has jumped from #187 to #185 and call that an update. Next time you think there is an update take the time to visit several other seo forums out there to see if it is true. Because when there is a REAL update you will find threads about it everywhere you go to.
<optimistic> It may be that there are a number of members that are not really familiar with changes to an algorithm that results in a significant change (aka - update), as opposed to the perpetual refreshing of an index that is what they see on a regular, almost day to day basis. </optimistic> Maybe there could be a sub-forum where the post counts are turned off for Google update threads. In the remote event that there really was an update, the discussion could then be moved up to the regular forum.
Words by a very wise SEO Me "live by google.........die by google" "I still do not own Google... even though most webmasters blame me for Googles issues with their sites" My most famous of all "Listen since Google doesn't number the results... how are you sure number 1 isn't at the bottom of the page?" Make them think!!!!!!
Like kids on a playground. "Do this. Don`t do that." Newbs are people too. Their questions come from the innocent position of honestly not knowing. They are usually new users and will contribute to the future growth of this forum and will eventually be knowledgable contributing members that add to this community. If they are not run off by pet peeves and conflicts, generated because we get anxious everytime we see a new "Google update thread" and become disappointed when its a newb asking a question. Do you guys yell at children when they ask questions? Go ahead fry me if you wish, but it had to be said.
I agree with Livingearth's post above and will add that when the frequency of posts or threads, or the repeated topics, or whatever, annoy you to this point, you're here too much. It's your personal problem and *you* need to deal with it, not ask the rest of the world to adjust to you. Bompa
